Nikki Mason at BestChickLit.com recently read Julia’s Violinist and this is an extract from her review: “This is the story of an ordinary woman’s life during extraordinary times. Julia is a shy young woman living a town close to the German-Czechoslovakia border. She always sees the best in everyone – and so she easily falls in love. First handsome baker’s son Michael woos her with his beautiful violin playing and passion for life, but it is his friend Luka who wins her hand in marriage. However, disaster strikes when Luka is called up to fight during WWII and Julia’s happy life is ripped to shreds. This war-torn novel is a beautiful and sad love story. Ceri’s Journey – Angels by Linn B Halton
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Love is a powerful emotion… can it change the course of someone’s destiny?
Synopsis: Ceri thinks she sees angels… everywhere. She struggles to keep separate what feels like two very different sides to her life. As a manager in an advertising company she’s been working with the gorgeous Alex for two years. They have a friendship based upon the image she portrays whilst she’s at work and it helps to keep her sane. One mad, crazy night spent sharing their secrets, and a lot of wine, result in them ending up in bed together. When Alex explains that the reason he doesn’t date is because someone broke his heart, how can Ceri admit that she feels a deep connection to him?
Kate at MeMyBooksandI recently read Ceri’s Journey – Angels and this is an extract from her review: “The very first sentence captured my interest because it mentioned Ceri’s ability to see angels – angels and the afterlife have always intrigued me so I knew from just one line that I would be hooked on Ceri’s story. The first angel sighting that was mentioned gave me chills as I was able to visualise it so clearly and the goosebumps continued with each sighting thereafter (I’m such a scaredy-cat). There was a great mix of supporting characters, I particularly liked Alex who worked with Ceri because he seemed fun – I could easily picture him in my mind and I loved the good effect he had on Ceri. This was a spiritual, emotional and thought-provoking read with a touch of romance, a great start to an intriguing series!”

Every Step of the Way by Kit Domino
Genre: 1950’s Fiction
Publisher: Thornberry Publishing
1952 in West London. A time of coffee bars, jukeboxes, and Teddy boys
Synopsis: As Christmas approaches, sixteen-year-old Beth Brixham has so much to look forward to. No more school, her first job, her first boyfriend. Instead, her world is thrown into darkness and chaos as the Great Smog descends over London, leaving in its wake a trail of death and disruption and changing Beth’s life forever. Every Step of the Way was shortlisted for the 2004 Harry Bowling Prize for a London novel.
LLm Author Linn B Halton read Every Step of the Way and this is an extract from her review: “Every Step of the Way is an amazing story, it transports you back into the 1950′s with ease and a realism that is at times quite harsh. From the thick, pea-soup fog, to the way young women had to fight to retain their own identity; it’s a piece of social history in the telling. Your heart will go out to Beth as she struggles to hold things together, the victim of a set of circumstances that are almost impossible to imagine. At times graphic, at times making you feel angry as you accompany her, you find yourself willing her on to fight those battles. A pleasure to read, it leaves a lasting impression…”

LLm Author Anneli Purchase read Knockout! and this is an extract from her review: “Don’t be fooled by the title. This is not a book about boxing. It’s a suspenseful page turner, a love story with a unique plot. The boxing aspect is in the background, but the true story is about the love between Detective Anna Leyton and Freddie, the sexy man she falls in love with. He happens to be a boxer who may or may not be involved in shady money laundering deals, but at first Anna doesn’t know that. Neither does the handsome Freddie, know that Anna is a policewoman on a case. I couldn’t read and turn the pages fast enough!”
