Earlier this year I was invited by the Resort Development Organisation to visit one of their resorts and learn more about the different holiday options available. RDO is the trade association for holiday ownership across Europe. Their aim is to provide high quality holiday accommodation and their members are bound by a code of conduct and provide levels of protection beyond those that the law states.
For our experience we chose the award-winning Club Las Calas in Lanzarote; a timeshare and self-catering holiday destination. It really is a fantastic place to get away to on holiday, for families, couples, or groups, and I can most definitely recommend it.
If you have ever thought about buying a property abroad, timeshare could be your solution as you can buy a share in one of the apartments rather than a whole property. If you are considering purchasing a timeshare property you should always look out for the RDO logo to ensure you have the correct legal protection.
Or, if timeshare is not for you, you can still experience holidaying in one of these fabulous apartments or many others that are available on the island by renting, or treating yourself to one of the many beautiful hotels that this island has to offer.
The site at Club Las Calas has 145 apartments spread across four areas, each area having its own pool and sundeck. Each apartment comes equipped with all modern amenities and either a balcony or a terrace. There are extensive facilities on site which include bars, restaurants, a gym, a squash court, sauna,, and a cyber lounge. The site also has free Wi-Fi so you can even catch up with what’s going on in the rest of the world if you wish. There is a kids club on site for children aged 4-13, and in the summer there are organised activities and live entertainment most nights.
Staff on site are all incredibly helpful and the friendly and relaxed environment, along with the tasteful and fully equipped apartments and on-site facilities, made me imagine this being a complete home from home if you had a timeshare apartment here.
Lanzarote itself is a great island with lots to do for all the family. We visited Rancho Texas while we were there, a brilliant wildlife and fun park, fantastic fun. We also went on an expedition to the Timanfaya Mountains which was incredible, learning about and experiencing the volcano and seeing the most magnificent views I think I’ve ever seen. Another day we took a trip to an amazing place called Jameos del Agua which are charming subterranean gardens and auditorium both designed by Cesar Manrique. There is a volcanic museum to explore, or you can just relax in the tranquil and calm surroundings overlooking a glorious lagoon with rays of sun peeking through the roof, illuminating a section of incredibly clear water which is home to the blind albino crab. I do think that this is one of the most relaxing and tranquil places I’ve ever been to in my life!
