Welcome back to my Profiles in FURage Series! Now that you’ve met Queen Isabella in Part I of this series it’s time to meet another Siamese cutie who came to live with us about three years ago. We adopted him from the same saintly feline super hero who brought us Isabella. Knowing I was partial to Siamese, she called me to say she found a little boy this time and she thought I would want to meet him. I ran over to her house and it was love at first sight. I brought him home and after a couple of days of intense cuddle-fests, I named him Romeo. It turned out to be a perfect name, but of course knowing me, there would be many monikers to come.
Romeo (a.k.a. “Romy,” “Romeow,” “Little Lion,” “Mr. Cutie,” “Love Bug,” “The Tongue,” “Shtoonky,” “The Cuddler,” “Little Bugger,” “Squeaky Toy,” and “Count Dracucat”)
Breed: Siamese Mix (a.k.a. Snowshoe)
Distinguishing features: Blue eyes (one slightly smaller than the other), crooked white stripe up nose, pointy chin, plump tummy, squeaky meow.
Now how could I resist taking this little munchkin home?
From the first day he took to me like a duck to water. When he was tiny, he loved to sleep on my heart, and sometimes on my head!
Now that he’s fully-grown, he still climbs aboard my chest in the middle of the night, brushes his face against mine in greeting, and curls up as if unaware that ten extra pounds on my chest doesn’t allow for the most restful night’s sleep. However, I never make him move because he’s still a little baby in my eyes.
Romeo loves to play with toy mice. He chases them, catches them in his teeth, and deposits them at my feet for another throw. This is better than his other favorite game of catching his little sister Sabrina in his teeth, who is not pleased by his vampire-like tendencies.
Sometimes I think Romeo has Middle Child Syndrome. Though a good natured and loving cat, he is also mischievous and an instigator with a knack for annoying his feline roommates. Just when one of them is blissfully asleep, along comes Dennis the Menace to stir things up. His older “sister” Isabella will give him what for, and having reverence for “The Queen” and her ominous hiss, he’ll often show some good sense and back off. Unfortunately the more mild-mannered Sabrina, after being given a decoy “bath,” is often caught in the jaws of her annoying older “brother,” who won’t release until Mom comes to the rescue.
But he does have a softer side. Here he is taking a morning snooze with Sabrina, no fangs in sight.
Once you get to know Romeo you’ll learn he…
Loves cuddling with our other cats as shown in these photos of him hugging his big “brother” Junior and spooning with Isabella…
Can dish it out, but can take it, too
Loves to cat wrestle
Is easily tricked
Will do just about anything for junk cat food
Loves his catnip
Is an obsessive licker
Is a lot stronger than he looks
Prefers his water directly from the tap
Relishes napping in the sunshine
Enjoys digging for “buried treasure” in his litter box…and spilling the debris all over the bathroom floor
Is very attached to his Mommy
And I have to say, despite his mischievous ways, I’m very attached to him, too!
